Chapter 6. When to Still Use RCS

At the time, the Revision Control System (RCS) was an improvement upon previous version control utilities. RCS proved easier to use and provided powerful features including reverse-deltas, faster retrievals, locking systems, complex branches, improved keywords, multiple-user support and a well developed archive file format. It has become a predominant version control system. And a free software implementation is available.

When available, RCS should be used in most all routine computer work. With practice and increased familiarity, the applications and benefits of using RCS with your work will become more apparent.
