The Bora Family has made maple syrup for personal use and to give away to friends and family for a very long time.

In 1998 Ken attended his first Field Trial for Retrievers in Stowe, VT, hosted by The Lake Champlain Retriever Club, and watched Betsy Bernhard give away Pure Vermont Maple Syrup to the winners of the trial and to the judges.

The following year he created his first award syrup for the retriever club. That started the long running joke "How do I get some of Ken's maple syrup? Easy, win 1st-4th place at the field trial in Vermont or judge for them." As the years went past more and more folk in the Retriever community had received Ken's syrup in this way and spoke of it often on the Retriever Training Forum.

Now you can contact Ken directly. We are offering 1 size bottle. It is a 500ml decorative glass bottle with gold foil top. The cost is $15 plus shipping. As this is pure liquid sugar in glass it is fragile, liquid, heavy and expensive to ship. Shipping cost will vary greatly from state to state and will run for $18- $38 or more depending of number of bottles ordered and distance. Email Ken at Kenbora@burlingtontelecom.net for exact shipping costs and syrup grade info.

These are my Dad Niles (left) and Brother Tim Bora (right). We use a wood fire to boil sap.
Tim's "Firing" (the act of putting wood in the arch) is unparalleled.

What is Pure Vermont Maple Syrup?
It is fresh sap from a maple tree with it's roots in Vermont soil. That is gathered and boiled in a Vermont Sugarhouse until the water is gone and nothing but pure maple sugar remains. Nothing else is ever added.
